Royal Banks also known as the rapper KONSEP, was born, raised and crafted his skill in the Uptown section of New Orleans’ 17th Ward.
KONSEP’s musical career began almost two decades ago and included influences like groups such as BDP, Poor Righteous Teachers, X-Clan, and LL Cool J. A true love for his craft came from experiencing the music produced by local legends such as The Ninja Crew, Partners N Crime, Black Menace, Sporty T, Soulja Slim, and Mac. This was during the era in which New Orleans based artists found their voice and began flowing lyrically, causing the rest of the culture to take notice. Big Boy Records, New Orleans’ first independent label to earn over a million dollars, was also a huge influence on KONSEP’s style.
KONSEP knew he had the talent and history to tell an interesting story, which led him to begin finely honing his skills. His lyrics now chronicle his life through enticing beats and hooks.
Throughout his career, KONSEP has lived in New Orleans and Los Angeles and he currently resides in Atlanta. KONSEP’s sound was influenced by his life experiences, so he now endeavors to bring that sound and imprint to fans around the globe.
